We are Otters, Foxes, Hedgehogs and Squirrels.
About Us:
In Lower Key Stage 2 (LKS2) we have three registration classes: Otters, Foxes and Hedgehogs. Each class is made up of both Year 3 and Year 4 children. In our morning classes, including Squirrels, our experienced teachers and support staff work closely together to provide a broad curriculum.
The mornings are spent in year group classes learning English, Whole Class Reading and Maths. During the afternoon, pupils remain in their mixed age classes when we teach the foundation subjects, including History, Geography, RE, PSHE, Music, PE, Computing, Science, Art and Design and Technology.
We plan our curriculum to meet the needs of our cohort. Our English is based on the ‘I am a clever writer’ approach. Each week pupils learn specific writing skills and apply these on Friday during ‘Star Write’. We use a bespoke curriculum for Maths which allows for the teaching of curriculum content in blocks. This gives pupils an extended period of time to develop a deep understanding of the content that is being taught. We use KAPOW for many of our foundation subjects.
We work closely with families to ensure their child is happy in school. We have regular class drop-ins as well as two parents' evenings throughout the year when we can discuss how your child is progressing.
