Welcome to Lower Key Stage 2
We are Squirrels, Otters, Foxes and Hedgehogs.
About Us:
In Lower Key Stage 2 (LKS2) we have four classes: Squirrels and Otters are Year 3, Foxes and Hedgehogs are Year 4. Our experienced teachers and support staff work closely together to provide a broad curriculum. Our mornings are spent learning English, Whole Class Reading and Maths. During the afternoon we teach the foundation subjects, including History, Geography, RE, PSHE, Music, PE, ICT, Science, Art and Design and Technology.
We plan our curriculum to meet the needs of our cohort. Our English is based on the ‘I am a clever writer’ approach. Each week pupils learn specific writing skills and apply these on Friday during ‘Star Write’. We use a bespoke curriculum for Maths which allows for the teaching of curriculum content in blocks. This gives pupils an extended period of time to develop a deep understanding of the content that is being taught. We use KAPOW for many of our foundation subjects.
We work closely with families to ensure their child is happy in school. We have regular class drop-ins as well as two parents' evenings throughout the year when we can discuss how your child is progressing.
