Welcome to Westgate!

We are looking forward to you joining our school and being part of the Westgate Community. 

Strong transitions

We believe that getting it right from the start will ensure that children feel happy, confident and safe starting school. 

Each year we:

• Visit pre-schools and talk to the children's key workers.
• Hold a meeting for new families where you can meet the teachers and find out what life at Westgate is all about.
• Stay and play sessions for the children and families in the summer term. 
• Messages from the teachers over the summer holidays via Tapestry.
• Individualised transition in September for children who need it.
• Half days for the first few days of term to ease everyone into school gently.
• Home visits.
