We are Finches, Robins and Wagtails
In Key Stage 1 (KS1) we have three classes. Each class is made up by both Year 1 and Year 2 children. Our experienced teachers and support staff work closely together to provide a broad curriculum.
Our mornings are spent learning Phonics, English and maths. During the afternoon, we teach the foundation subjects including History, Geography, RE, PSHE, Music, PE, ICT, Science, Art and Design & Technology. Alongside this, we provide opportunities for children to have some child-initiated learning through play. We are fortunate to have a shared middle area as well as an area outside KS1 that the children can access.
We plan our curriculum to meet the needs of our cohort. We teach Phonics through FFT Success for all and our English is based on the ‘I am a clever writer’ approach. We use White Rose Maths as a basis for our Maths and teach using an ‘I do, we do, you do’ approach. We use KAPOW for many of our foundation subjects.
We work closely with families to ensure their child is happy in school. We have regular class drop-ins as well as two parents' evenings throughout the year when we can discuss how your child is progressing.
