Welcome

Welcome to Westgate Community Primary School!

Headteacher’s Welcome Message

Welcome to Westgate CP School, a happy and successful community where the children are at the heart of all we do. As a truly inclusive school, we aim to create a happy, secure and stimulating environment where all members of our school community can grow in self-esteem and develop their full potential. We believe that your child’s education is a partnership between home and school.

So why seek a place for your child at Westgate CP School? We pride ourselves on being a truly inclusive school that is part of the community, and where our pupils feel safe and cared for. As a parent you are faced with the very important decision as to which school is best for your child. While we strive to include in our prospectus and website, all the information you need, we strongly believe that you cannot find out whether our school is right for your child simply from documentation. There is only one way to fully experience and appreciate what our school has to offer and that is to visit during a normal school day. I therefore invite you to contact us to arrange a visit or to answer any further questions you may have.

I look forward to working with you and your child/ren over the coming years.

Mrs Rhonda Kidd

Westgate CP School

At Westgate CP School, we aim to create a caring, exciting, learning environment that enables everyone to reach their full potential. We work closely with parents to create an effective home-school partnership.

The primary phase of education is absolutely vital for future educational success and we will do our utmost to enable your child to achieve the highest standards.

We are pleased to have been recognised in our last Ofsted report (January 2022) as a truly inclusive, community school. Furthermore, we are proud to have a  15-place Deaf Resource Base (DRB), with our deaf children being fully integrated into their own classes, whilst also having opportunities to learn British Sign Language (BSL) and complete deaf studies.

As a committed community school, we look to support our children and families in a number of ways and were thrilled to have recently been awarded The Wellbeing Award for Schools (December 2022).

Our team of teaching and support staff offer the children significant support for Speech and Language, and we have two fully trained Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSA). In addition, we have a dedicated member of staff who works alongside families to offer support and as a link to other agencies. Furthermore, we enjoy close links with two local churches (Westgate Chapel and St Peters Church) and have an active Parent Teacher Association (PTA), who organise regular events for our children and families.

Please visit our pastoral care page, SEND and S&L pages for more information

We do hope you take the time to look through the various links on our website. If you have any questions or would like to arrange a visit to see the school for yourself, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
