  • Sponsored read update

    Fri 21 Jun 2019

During the Spring term, we ran a sponsored read to update our stock of books. This week, the books finally arrived! Genna Mohammed, the Usborne representative delivered the books to school and here we are surrounded by them! As we raised over £1000, we received an additional £600 from Usborne. This resulted in us purchasing over 300 new books!

Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the sponsored read, including generous donations from several Westgate families, Monika in Year 6 and £250 from British Sugar. Also a big thank to Mrs Cleaver for organising this event.

We are looking forward to reading all our new books!

  • Outdoor Learning Environment

    Mon 10 Jun 2019

We have been busy updating our outdoor learning environment and would like to say a huge thank you to Greener Growth and Marks and Spencer Volunteers for their enormous support. They have helped us to create a new path through our nature area and planted new wild flowers to help encourage the wildlife. We now have a bug hotel, bird boxes and a home for bees. The children in early years will enjoy playing in the new sandpit and sitting and watching the wildlife on their new seating.  The compost bins will benefit the growth of new plants in our nature area.

  • Our new play equipment!

Sat 30 Mar 2019 Annie Drugan

Our Early Years children love our new playground playground equipment!

Our fun, colourful and stimulating area includes the following:

    • Climbing Wall
    • Balance Beam
    • Tightrope Bridge
    • Net Traverse

This enables imaginative play and physical development. Our children will be developing key physical skills: balance, lower and upper body strength, hand strength, core stability, coordination and gross motor skills.

For this project, we worked with Pentagon Play who design and install outdoor learning environments for schools and nurseries.
